The 15 year old piloted a single engine Cesna from LA to Newport News, VA encountering thunderstorms in Texas and making updates with Facebook as she stopped along the way. She was accompanied by an 87 year old former Tuskegee Airman and an adult safety pilot, crediting the flight in honor of the historic all black combat crew of World War II. During the trip she met about 50 former Tuskegee Airmen who signed the plane the museum donated for the trip. "That way they can fly with us forever", the museum founder says.
